With Winter comes the cute, cozy vibes and quiet nights in, but the weather change can also be harsh on your skin and hair. Never fear – we’ve compiled our top winter beauty tips to help you maintain your glow, even throughout the chilly months.
Hydrate inside & out
Staying hydrated is crucial for your skin’s health so make sure you’re drinking plenty of water to keep your skin moisturised from the inside out. Indoor heating can also dry out the air, leading to dry skin! However, using a humidifier actually adds moisture to the air so aids in keeping your skin hydrated.
Switch to a gentle cleanser
Use a gentle, hydrating cleanser to avoid stripping your skin of its natural oils. Look for cleansers with ingredients like glycerin or hyaluronic acid.
Moisturise, moisturise then moisturise some more.
Switch to a thicker moisturiser to provide an extra barrier against the cold. Products with ceramides, shea butter and natural oils are ones that help most.
Don’t skip the sunscreen
Yes, even in winter! Use a simple SPF30 or higher daily and combat the sun even as it pokes through.
Protect your lips
The cold can cause dry, chapped lips, so keep a hydrating lip balm on hand and use a gentle lip scrub one a week.
Don’t forget your hands & feet
Your hands are the most exposed to the cold, so make sure you’re using a rich hand cream regularly. Similarly, don’t forget your tootsies! Try apply a thick foot cream at night and wear socks to lock that moisture in.
Healthy Hair Habits
Switch to moisturizing hair products to combat those drying effects of winter weather and try limit the use of heat styling tools (but if you do, make sure you’re using a heat protectant spray!)
Exfoliate!
Exfoliating your skin once or twice a week helps remove dead skin cells and allow better absorption of moisturisers.
Nourish from within
Eating a balanced diet that’s rich in vitamins and minerals can help maintain healthy skin – look for foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins A, C and E.
Mind your eyes
The skin around your eyes is delicate and can become dry very easily – using a hydrating eye cream will keep your peepers moisturised and glowing.
