The ultimate guide to health & wellness

The team at City Fitness Hunters Plaza are there to help their customers achieve their health, wellness, and fitness goals, whether you’re a seasoned fitness enthusiast or just starting out. We asked them their best 10 tips on how (and where) to start…

  1. Set your goals: embarking on a health and wellness journey without clear goals is like navigating a city without a map. Know your objectives, are you wanting to lose weight? Gain muscle? Increase flexibility? Reduce stress? Set specific, measurable and achievable goals that will help you stay focused and motivated.
  2. Create a nutrition plan: a well-balanced diet is the foundation of good health. Fill your plate with a colorful array of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, grains and healthy fat. Remember, moderation is key!
  3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate: water is essential, so make sure you’re carrying a reusable drink bottle and aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily.
  4. Embrace regular exercise: City Fitness offers a wide range of equipment to suit any preferences, whether you enjoy high-intensity workouts, or strength training, find something you love and commit to a consistent routine.
  5. Prioritize sleep: quality sleep is often overlooked, but it is crucial for physical and mental recovery. Establish a relaxing bedtime routine, create a comfortable sleep environment and limit screentime before bed to improve sleep quality.
  6. Practice Mindfulness: it’s important to prioritize your mental well-being, so try engaging in mindfulness practices such as meditation, deep breathing or journaling to reduce stress.
  7. Connect with the community: say hello to others at the gym, you’re amongst like-minded individuals who could provide motivation to you.
  8. Listen to your body: rest when you need and don’t push yourself too hard! Overtraining can lead to burnout and injuries.
  9. Track your progress: celebrate your achievements, no matter how small! Keep a journal, take progress photos or use a fitness app to track your workouts. Seeing improvements overtime can boost your motivation and keep you committed.
  10. Stay committed: consistency is the key to long-term success. Remember, health and wellness are ongoing journeys, not quick fixes! Stay patient, stay positive and keep pushing yourself to be the best version of you.
