Chinese New Year

Join us as we celebrate Chinese New Year at Hunters Plaza!

For the first time at Hunters Plaza, we are commemorating Lunar New Year.

Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, is a significant celebration that marks the beginning of the new lunar calendar year. The Year of the Snake, like other animal years in the Chinese zodiac, holds special meaning and symbolism. The snake is associated with wisdom, intuition, and grace, and people born in the Year of the Snake are often seen as intelligent and insightful.

Celebrated by millions around the world, including many in New Zealand, Chinese New Year involves various traditions and festivities aimed at honouring ancestors, inviting good fortune, and fostering community. Families come together to share meals, exchange gifts, and participate in cultural activities such as dragon and lion dances.

This festive period is also a time for reflection and renewal, as individuals hope for prosperity and happiness in the year ahead.

Be sure to snap a pic in front of our backdrop (located outside Kmart)!
